As part of our ongoing series exploring the newest Mercedes-Benz models, I’ve spent this past week living with the 2025 Mercedes-Benz lineup of convertibles to bring you an insider’s perspective. Here’s my daily journal showcasing how these luxury performance cars perform living and working in Nashville.

Day 1: 2026 Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 – Broadway Bound

Started my week with the flagship 2026 Mercedes-Maybach SL 680, and what better way to test this ultra-luxury convertible than cruising down Broadway at sunset? The retractable soft top gracefully transformed this 577-horsepower masterpiece into an open-air palace, making my evening commute feel like a royal procession.

Technical Notes:

● 4.0L V8 biturbo engine producing 577 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque
● Nine-speed AMG® SPEEDSHIFT® DCT automatic transmission with wet clutch
● 4MATIC®+ fully variable all-wheel drive system
● Exclusive “Maybach Mode” drive setting for ultimate comfort
● MBUX with Voice Control multimedia system based on artificial intelligence
● Maybach-specific luxury appointments and materials

Nashville Observations: The Maybach’s presence on Lower Broadway was undeniable. The exclusive Maybach Mode softened the suspension to limousine-like levels, allowing me to glide over Broadway’s brick sections with supreme comfort. The handcrafted Nappa leather interior and ambient lighting created an intimate concert hall atmosphere as I listened to the street musicians. The advanced customization options and exclusive “Maybach Mode” transformed every traffic light into a moment of serene luxury. Valet parking at the Grand Ole Opry House was an experience in itself – the two-tone paint scheme and Maybach badging commanded immediate attention.

Day 2: 2025 Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 Cabriolet – Music Row Discovery

Today’s adventure took me through Music Row in the CLE 300 Cabriolet. This newest addition to our convertible lineup bridges the gap between the C-Class and former E-Class cabriolets beautifully.

Technical Notes:
● Enhanced 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder with mild-hybrid technology (48V system)
● 258 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque with ISG (Integrated Starter Generator)
● Longer wheelbase than C-Class for improved rear passenger comfort
● Advanced MBUX with voice control: “Hey Mercedes”

Nashville Observations: Driving past the historic RCA Studio B (yes, that Studio B – Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, The Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings.) I appreciated the CLE’s refined cabin acoustics. The mild-hybrid system’s seamless operation impressed me during stop-and-go traffic on 16th Avenue South. The ISG’s boost function provided immediate throttle response when merging onto I-440, while the electric motor’s regenerative capabilities helped during Nashville’s hilly terrain around Belmont University.

Day 3: 2025 Mercedes-AMG® SL 63 S E PERFORMANCE – Bonnaroo Bound

The highlight of my week: taking the AMG SL 63 S E PERFORMANCE to the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, TN. This 90-minute drive showcased everything this flagship convertible offers. I’m glad I went first day before the rains washed out the weekend.

Technical Notes:
● Plug-in hybrid powertrain: 4.0L V8 biturbo + electric motor
● Total system output: 816 hp and 1,055 lb-ft of torque
● AMG® SPEEDSHIFT® DCT 9G transmission
● 2+2 seating configuration with retractable soft top
● AMG® DYNAMIC SELECT with 7 drive modes including “Race”

Nashville Observations: The journey to Manchester transformed into an experience of pure performance luxury. The SL 63 S E’s electric-only mode proved perfect for the festival’s quiet zones, while the full hybrid system delivered breathtaking acceleration on I-24’s open stretches. The Nappa leather seats with active ventilation kept me comfortable during the June heat, and the panoramic roof’s electrochromic glass provided the perfect balance of openness and sun protection. Arriving at Bonnaroo in this masterpiece certainly turned heads in the VIP parking area. I’m glad I went the first day before the rains washed out the weekend.

Day 4: 2025 Mercedes-AMG® SL 55 – Hermitage Adventure

Explored Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage today in the 2025 Mercedes-AMG® SL 55. This performance-oriented convertible’s 469-horsepower V8 and sophisticated all-wheel-drive system proved perfect for the estate’s diverse terrain.

Technical Notes:
● 4.0L V8 biturbo engine producing 469 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque
● Nine-speed AMG® SPEEDSHIFT® DCT automatic transmission
● AMG® Performance 4MATIC®+ all-wheel drive with variable torque distribution
● AMG® electronic limited-slip rear differential
● Dynamic engine mounts and yellow brake calipers
● Active Brake Assist with Cross-Traffic Function

Nashville Observations: The SL 55’s AMG® Performance 4MATIC®+ system demonstrated remarkable confidence on the Hermitage’s varied surfaces. The electronic limited-slip differential seamlessly managed traction on the estate’s gravel paths while maintaining the sporty character AMG® is known for. The dynamic engine mounts reduced NVH levels during leisurely exploration of the mansion grounds, yet came alive when I opened the throttle on the return journey via Lebanon Pike. The estate’s historic significance paired beautifully with this modern interpretation of the legendary SL roadster heritage. The retractable soft top allowed me to fully appreciate both the mansion’s architecture and the surrounding 1,120 acres in open-air luxury.

Day 5: 2025 Mercedes-Benz CLE 450 4MATIC® Cabriolet – Percy Warner Park Expedition

Ventured into Percy Warner Park’s scenic drives with the CLE 450 4MATIC®. The elevated power and all-wheel capability made this day particularly memorable.

Technical Notes:
● 3.0L inline-6 turbo engine with 48V mild-hybrid system
● 375 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque
● 4MATIC®+ all-wheel drive with variable torque distribution
● Air Body Control air suspension with adaptive damping

Nashville Observations: The park’s elevation changes and winding roads highlighted the CLE 450’s sophisticated chassis dynamics. The Air Body Control suspension adapted flawlessly to the park’s varied road surfaces, maintaining comfort during leisurely scenic drives while providing sports car-like handling through the tighter corners near the overlooks. The panoramic views of Nashville from the park’s peaks were perfectly framed by the convertible’s open cockpit experience.

Day 6: 2025 Mercedes-AMG® CLE 53 4MATIC®+ Cabriolet – Green Hills Sophistication

Today’s drive through Green Hills in the AMG® CLE 53 showcased performance luxury at its finest. This is where comfort meets capability in our CLE convertible lineup.

Technical Notes:
● AMG®-enhanced 3.0L inline-6 turbo with 48V EQBoost
● 443 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque
● AMG® Performance 4MATIC®+ all-wheel drive
● AMG® RIDE CONTROL+ air suspension
● AMG® DYNAMIC SELECT with 6 drive modes

Nashville Observations: Navigating the upscale shopping district’s busy streets, the CLE 53’s refined power delivery impressed. The AMG® exhaust note provided the perfect soundtrack while cruising past The Mall at Green Hills, and the active air suspension soaked up the urban environment’s imperfections. The top-down visibility proved invaluable in the area’s dense parking situations, while the performance capabilities shined during spirited drives through the surrounding residential hills.

Day 7: Reflection – Why These Convertibles Define Nashville Luxury

Completing this week-long journey through Nashville’s diverse landscape, I’m struck by how each convertible serves a distinct purpose while sharing Mercedes-Benz’s core commitment to luxury, technology, and performance.

Technical Notes – What Makes Each Special:
